The Secret to Digital Brand Marketing That Most People Forget

No matter what product or service you offer, the secret to digital brand marketing is the same. And it starts with the same four words: Once upon a time.

In other words, the secret to digital brand marketing is storytelling.

We are predisposed to listen to stories. Science has proven when we hear an emotional tale of a character’s journey, we recall the details later. Not only that, storytelling stimulates a chemical in our brains called oxytocin, which motivates cooperation and persuades us to act. In short, our minds love stories and all the good-feeling oxytocin they produce.

Effective storytelling in digital and social media marketing takes practice. It needs to have a beginning, middle, and an end. It should also have relatable characters that are involved in a struggle or have a challenge. It is like a movie. In fact, many companies employ long-form commercials that resemble mini-movies.

A vital part of storytelling is considering your audience and what you want them to learn about your brand. Is your brand homegrown? Is it cutting-edge? Do you want to promote social-consciousness? Defining the message your digital marketing needs to communicate is essential to producing a good yarn.

Storytelling isn’t complicated or difficult to remember in digital marketing. However, many people forget how significant a role it plays in how customers connect with a brand at an emotional level, which is the most critical level in digital brand marketing. Creating emotional connections through good storytelling will create digital marketing that leads to many happily-ever-afters with your customers.
